Metropolitan Community Churches believe in the Priesthood of All Believers, which means it’s not only the Pastor’s job—it’s the job of each and every one of us to bring the message of God’s love to everyone! The following are the many opportunities at FirstCoast MCC. All of our ministries will expand and change as our continued growth allows us to do so.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors currently has five members. The Board is responsible for the operational work of the church-developing a budget, making sure the bills are paid, researching insurance needs, etc. The Board works many hours behind the scenes to keep the lights on and the mortgage paid! Members-in-Good-Standing for at least six months are eligible to run for the Board. All Monthly Board Meetings are open to everyone.
As gas prices soar, sharing rides becomes more of a necessity. This ministry tries to pair those close to each other. They also search for volunteers to give newcomers a ride to church.
J.A.M. (Jesus and Me) is our children’s ministry. They meet each Sunday during worship service for a time of Bible study, which may include art projects, music, and more. Children of members or anyone just visiting are always welcome. Volunteers are in pairs when possible.
CLM – CREATING A LIFE THAT MATTERS
CLM is MCC’s three part journey which explores ways to rediscover relationship with the Sacred, with Self, and with your Passion. It integrates art, scripture, music, film, journaling, and diverse spiritual resources to explore your path.
This group works on routine weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly cleaning and maintenance, as well as other projects as needed.
This team continues to help our congregation “go green”. They keep us recycling, as well as educate us on how to care for the environment as individuals and as a congregation.
This ministry keeps hiv/aids visible in St. Johns County. They often work with the Health Department, the Community aids Coalition, and other agencies to promote aids awareness, education, and prevention in St. Augustine and the surrounding areas.
These folks keep us well fed! They make sure we have drinks and snacks after each Worship Service and help with socials as needed.
This ministry involves running the sound & projection during worship. It also includes recording sermons and making them available for folks who miss church, need the message, or just want to listen to it again.
Our Praise Choir rehearses during the week and sings in services at various times. The GodSound Chimers rehearse as needed for special selections during the course of the year. PB4J (Praise Band for Jesus) brings upbeat and modern music to many of our services each month.
This ministry consists of passing on prayers to the congregation through our online PrayerPage via a regular weekly email, and more regular communications as the need arises. The Prayer Book is shared in this email, as well as any other prayer needs.
Our Ushers are a very important part of the church. This ministry makes a first impression, answers questions, and keeps the Worship Service running smoothly by passing the offering plates and directing folks to communion.
WELCOME & OUTREACH TEAM
The Welcome Team staffs the Welcome Table to insure everyone has a name tag. They greet everyone and assist newcomers with the location of bathrooms, children’s ministry, and much more. They offer tours of our campus, check on folks we haven't seen in a while, and reach out to the colleges, as well as those we miss.
Our Worship Ministers assist in leading worship and offer congregational care by performing hospital & home visits. They coordinate the Worship Assistants who help in worship by reading and assisting in Communion.
